Routes

ttMaps is not (yet) able to guide you, but can warn you if you leave your route.

ttMaps accepts files in GPX format. To install them, simply copy them into the folder ttMaps/Routes. The number of points is currently limited to 10000. A GPX file must contain a single route.

You can also create your routes directly in ttMaps.

Follow a route

To follow a route, select it from the menu Routes. If you leave this route, you will be notified by an audible beep or by a message on the screen.

The visual alert is formed by a blinking red message drawn on the map.

Audible warning consists of variable frequency beeps depending on the distance. When the difference is small, the frequency is low. The more the deviation increases, the more the beeps are acute. When the distance reaches ten times the maximum allowed deviation, the frequency stabilizes. When the distance reaches twenty times the maximum allowed deviation, the warning disappears, because it is likely that the user has voluntarily left the planned route.

The beeps are issued every five seconds or sooner if the deviation has changed.

In the case where GPS reception is not possible, low frequency tones are emitted every ten seconds, to notice that guidance is not available.

For advanced users, all these parameters can be changed (see page Customize).

Configuring alarm parameters

The distance from which you will be informed, and the type of message are configurable in the Preferences, Route Alarm Parameters** menu:

If you enable the visual message, the screen will turn on automatically when an alert is displayed (be aware of the extra consumption that induces long if you stay outside of the route).

If you check the Show the route distance, the deviation will be displayed in green as long as it will be acceptable, and in red otherwise.

Creating / Editing a route

In the Routes menu, select Draw a route or Edit a route. The screen layout of routes is displayed:

A toolbar appears at the top of the screen.

Add a point at the end of the route
Insert a point
Move the map
Move a point
Delete a point
Exit

The length of the route is shown at the left bottom of the screen.

If you have installed DEM files (SRTM, Aster, ...), the ascent and descent will be displayed at the right bottom of the screen.

Creating a route

Tap the screen to indicate the original position. A dot appears. As long as you do not release the pressure, you can move it. The map centers itself automatically around this point:

Tap the screen to indicate the position of the second point. As long as you do not release the pressure, you can move the point. As soon as you release the pressure, a route segment appears, and the map automatically centers around the last point:

Repeat the same procedure for the other points:

In this mode, two additional buttons are available on the sides of the screen:

Delete the last point of the route
Back to start
